Wings and Wheels Expo 2011 provided an affordable venue for a fun and educational
family weekend event, and also helped generate nearly $20,000 in donations and contributions from the community to help foster the development and growth of a regional Hagerstown Aviation Museum.

Over the past five years, the Hagerstown Aviation Museum has acquired nearly 15 classic aircraft,
most built in this area at Hagerstown's sprawling Fairchild Industries facility on Showalter Road.
Not having a building large enough to properly care for these historic aircraft, the Museum for years
has held many events for the public to view and even walk through these planes –
in many cases, allowing anyone the opportunity to trace back over the footsteps
of their fathers and grandfathers who served in our Country's military.
Wings and Wheels Expo 2011 provided the Museum with your much needed contribution
to help make the dream of finding a permanent home for these proud warbirds, a reality.

During each day of the Expo, attendees made a $100 donation
– in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of flight in
the Cumberland Valley – and were welcomed to enjoy a 15-minute
flight experience in the sky aboard the Museum's PT-19 vintage trainer!
Your attendance at Wings and Wheels Expo 2011 helped build a lasting legacy to the nearly
nine decades of hard work, skill, and ingenuity of thousands of our local fellow citizens!

One highlight of the weekend's activities was a Fairchild Aircraft Heritage Flight,
composed of old Fairchild trainers and aircraft dating back to the 1920s
Cameras and recording devices welcomed.
